Platforms

The Office for Professional Education supports a variety of platforms for providing individual courses, certificate programs and professional degrees. While these platforms are online, they can be used for any mode of instruction, including on-campus face-to-face, off-campus face-to-face, or online remote access.

Canvas CatalogThe University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign supports the Canvas LMS for its instructional support needs, but this “Canvas @ Illinois” LMS is only available to its faculty, staff and enrolled students, and is appropriate for offering credit-bearing courses as part of a credit bearing certificate program. Canvas Catalog is a second instance of this same Canvas LMS, but one that allows non-credit courses to be available more broadly, such as to the general public. Canvas Catalog courses are non-credit, but can offer Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) or Professional Development Hours (PDH’s). Please send any questions on Canvas Catalog to canvascatalog@illinois.edu.
CourseraThe University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was the first land-grant institution to partner with Coursera, and provides over 200 non-credit courses and specialization certificate programs on its platform. Illinois was the first university to partner with Coursera on the offering of a degree, the iMBA, and now offers over 15 graduate degrees and credit-bearing certificates.
AccredibleAll non-degree students completing credit-bearing certificate programs and open-education learners completing non-credit certificate programs receive online certificates and badges indicating their skills and accomplishments on the Accredible digital credentialling platform. Please send any questions on Accredible to accredible@illinois.edu.
